I serve as the Outreach Coordinator for the LSU Museum of Natural Science. This involves developing science education activities and exhibits, conducting outreach events, maintaining the website and social media accounts, producing the Museum's Quarterly Newsletter, and writing grants to support the museum's outreach activities and exhibits. I also serve on the Advisory Board for the National EnvironMentors Program.
A main goal of mine is to inspire people to understand, value, and pursue science. I am interested in increasing scientific literacy in our community and bringing awareness to the natural world through informal science programs and public outreach. I believe informal education and outreach programs, such as those implemented through museums, zoos, or universities have a significant role to play in society. They invoke a natural curiosity that leaves people open to learn. As an educator, I hope to channel that curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists and implement activities that not only entertain but also teach valuable skills, such as critical thinking and problem solving.
