I serve as the Outreach Coordinator for the LSU Museum of Natural Science. This involves developing science education activities and exhibits, conducting outreach events, maintaining the website and social media accounts, producing the Museum's Quarterly Newsletter, and writing grants to support the museum's outreach activities and exhibits. A goal of mine is to provide opportunities for people to connect with science and inspire them to understand, value, and pursue science. I want to plan activities that not only entertain but also teach valuable skills, such as critical thinking and problem solving. I think informal education and outreach programs, such as those implemented through museums, zoos, or university programs have a significant role to play in society. They invoke a natural curiosity that leaves people open to learn. As a science outreach coordinator, I hope to channel that curiosity and inspire the next generation of scientists.
